Who is Half Caff for?
Half Caff is built for two groups. The first is people actively tapering off caffeine - those working through dependence, reducing consumption after a period of heavy use, or managing withdrawal symptoms by stepping down gradually rather than stopping cold. Going from full-caf to decaf overnight is hard. Half Caff gives you a middle rung: real caffeine, half the dose, same ritual. The second group is people who simply want some caffeine but not a full hit - afternoon drinkers who don’t want disrupted sleep, people with mild caffeine sensitivity, or anyone who finds a standard cup leaves them overstimulated. Half Caff is not appropriate for people who need near-zero caffeine. Pregnancy, cardiac arrhythmia, seizure disorders, and certain drug interactions require caffeine avoidance, not reduction. At 40-60mg per cup, Half Caff still delivers a real physiological dose. If your goal is near-zero exposure, the Colipse full decaf is the right product - it uses the same Swiss Water® Process on 100% of the beans. Half Caff is a bridge, not a substitute for full decaf in clinical contexts. What makes the 50/50 blend work?
Both halves of the blend come from the same JUMARP cooperative in the Yamón District of Peru. That sourcing decision is deliberate - when you blend two different origins, flavor inconsistency is common as the ratio shifts in the roaster. Here, the caffeinated half and the decaf half are the same variety, from the same farm network, roasted to the same medium profile. The Swiss Water® Process is applied only to the beans destined for the decaf half, removing caffeine through osmosis without solvents. The caffeinated half is left unprocessed. The result is a cup that tastes like one coffee, not two competing ones, with the caffeine contribution landing around half of what you would get from an equivalent all-caf brew.Tapering with Half Caff
A common tapering path is full-caf for several weeks, Half Caff for one to two weeks, then full decaf. That three-stage approach gives your adenosine receptors time to adjust at each step, which reduces the severity of withdrawal symptoms - headaches, fatigue, and irritability are typically milder when the drop is gradual. Individual timelines vary depending on how long you have been a heavy caffeine user and how sensitive you are. For a full breakdown of the withdrawal process and a suggested reduction schedule, see Caffeine Dependence and Caffeine Withdrawal.Half Caff and your health

Sourcing and certifications
Colipse Half Caff draws both the caffeinated and decaf halves from the JUMARP cooperative in the Yamón District of Amazonas, a high-altitude growing region in Northern Peru. The cooperative model means farmers receive a stable, above-market price for their harvest rather than being exposed to commodity price swings. Fair Trade Organic certification covers both the labor practices and the absence of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. For a full account of how the supply chain works and what certification means in practice, see Sourcing. The Swiss Water® Process used on the decaf half of the blend is a solvent-free method that removes caffeine by passing green beans through a caffeine-saturated water solution, relying on concentration gradients rather than chemicals. It is one of two broadly accepted chemical-free decaffeination methods and is the standard used across all Colipse decaf products. For more on what decaffeination methods exist and how they compare, see Certifications.Where to buy
